The Automotive Supplier Park (ASP) is an industrial park based in Rosslyn in the northern corridor of the Gauteng City Region. The ASP originated as a concept from Blue IQ – now Gauteng Growth and Development Agency (GGDA) – jointly with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in the year 2000. The ASP is modelled on leading supplier parks in Europe, Japan and America.

The park spans 160 hectares and houses a tenant pool comprising mainly of automotive component manufacturers and suppliers to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM). Automotive component manufacturers, suppliers and service providers benefit from the synergies and cost saving opportunities created by the locality of the Automotive Supplier Park.

The AIDC develops factories to tenant specification on a long-term lease basis. The ASP is a benchmark for our country and the continent at large and has contributed significantly to the global competitiveness of the South African automotive industry.

The Tshwane Automotive Special Economic Zone (TASEZ) originated as a project of the AIDC to replicate the ASP in the Silverton areas.

The ASP is close to all major OEM plants including BMW (3.3km), Nissan (1.3km), and Ford (35km).

Tenants enjoy the benefit of shared infrastructure and value-added services including facilities management, ICT services, centralised security, logistic services, conference facilities, canteen and healthcare facilities.

State of the art ICT infrastructure

The ASP provides advanced Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure and services. Tenants are offered a wide range of services including affordable routing IP telephony service, broadband internet and email, server access, back-up and data recovery services, ICT support, access control and CCTV monitoring.

Customised Turnkey Buildings

Factories at the ASP are developed to tenant requirements and legislative compliance. Building designs and finishes are governed by the ASP’s architectural guidelines and meet international automotive standards.

Logistics Network

Tenants benefit from warehousing and distribution services rendered by independent service providers. A centrally located container depot, owned and managed by global shipping company MSC, handles inbound and outbound container traffic. The facility offers a significant benefit to ASP tenants and the broader Rosslyn industrial area.

Competitive Rental Rates

The ASP offers competitive and market-related rental rates for its factories on a flexible lease model often linked to OEM supply contracts secured. The fixed operating costs are competitively priced relative to the regional market rates. Tenants receive one bill monthly for rental, levy, utilities, and other recoverable costs. This avoids tenants having to deal with multiple service providers.

1. Conference Centre

The 4- star graded Conference Centre at the Automotive Supplier Park is a world class facility which caters for all conferencing needs. The seven fully equipped rooms accommodate 10 to 230 delegates. The foyer boasts a state-of-the-art Business Centre with computers and WIFI connectivity, available to all conference delegates.

The Conference Centre offers a range of packages which include rooms, catering and conference materials. Additionally, the Conference Centre offers free, secure parking, DSTV, medical facilities, lapas, and a sports section which includes a football field, netball and volleyball courts as well as a spectator stand.
