In response to the continuing COVID-19 outbreak, Automotive Industry Development Centre (AIDC) -Gauteng has announced a temporary suspension of its operations in the Gauteng area. This follows the Official Announcement of the State President on the 23rd March 2020 in consultation with respective national government stakeholders, and is being taken to safeguard the wellbeing of internal and external stakeholders, customers and communities.
The procedures taken are as follows:
- The AIDC’s Automotive Suppler Park-Rosslyn will cease operation from 26th March 2020 until 20th April 2020. A team of staff will be on standby for essential maintenance should the need arise, the situation will be monitored closely. FFM Department has a permanent 24Hrs Stand-by number (066 474 3552)
- The AIDC’s Automotive Incubation at Ford SA- Pretoria will also suspend its operations in conjunction with the announcement by Ford SA plant in Pretoria, South Africa. The facility will cease operations from Thursday March 26th till the 21st April 2020
- The AIDC’s Automotive Incubation at Nissan SA- Rosslyn Pretoria will also be suspended its operations in conjunction with the announcement of Nissan SA Plant Pretoria, South Africa. The facility will cease operations from Thursday March 26th until further notice.
- The AIDC’s Gauteng Automotive Learning Centre – Rosslyn Pretoria will also suspend its operations in conjunction with the announcement. The facility will cease operations from Thursday March 26th until 20th April 2020.
- The AIDC’s Automotive Hub-Winterveld in Pretoria will also be suspended its operations in conjunction with National Announcement. The facility will cease operations from Thursday March 26th until 20th April 2020.
- The AIDC’s Automotive Hub-Chamdor also been suspended its operations in conjunction with National Announcement, this will have an impact on the Official Launch. The facility will cease operations from Thursday March 26th until 20th April 2020.
- In addition, AIDC’s offices across the Province will be implementing home-working to protect staff as part of the wider effort to contain or limit the spread and impact of the virus, our offices will re-open on the 20th April 2020.

The Overall synopsis of Covid-19 has a huge macro and micro economic impact Globally as well as on the SA Auto sector at large and affecting, OEM’s (Original Equipment Manufacturer), its suppliers within Light Motor Vehicle, Bus & Truck & Retail Sector.
This in effect causes a change in the number of vehicles exported, imported, sales volume, as well as investment etc.
OEM’s and Suppliers in SA are adhering to strict guidelines to curtail the spread of Covid-19.
The 21-day Lock Down talking points for the next 21 days is very clear and have beencommunicated nationally.
